BMW iDrive with touch screen and gesture control

BMW iDrive with touch screen

The expanded iDrive concept opens up completely new possibilities, offering an extremely intuitive control of many functions and without distracting the driver from the road. Now, in addition to basic information input via the iDrive controller, the driver and the front passenger are offered to operate the system via touchscreen, as in a smartphone - many customers perceive it as intuitive and logical. Both concepts are absolutely equal and interchangeable - all menu options without exception can be used both by touch input and through the iDrive controller.
Even more interesting is the option that allows you to control individual functions with gestures and movements in the open space. Built-in roof 3D sensor captures certain gestures, including recognizes rotational and sliding movements. For example, you can change the volume level by rotating the finger; take a call by simulating a button press in the air, or reject it by sliding motion.

The new control system of BMW Touch is of special interest in the BMW G11 7 series and other cars, where the emphasis is on the comfort of the rear passengers. This is a tablet PC from Samsung in the back of the cabin, which is connected to the car via Wi-Fi and allows you to manage numerous information and entertainment and support functions at an intuitive level. Users can sit and relax without worrying about input devices - they are securely attached.
The tablet computer, fully integrated into the electronic device system of the car, is held in a shock-resistant mount and is charged through the adapter with a lock. A special application from BMW, installed on the tablet, allows you to manage multimedia systems for the rear passengers through the iDrive interface.
